Matthew T. Taft Endicott, NY Death-Obituary: Endicott Man and Matthews Nissan Service Writer Matthew Taft Dies at 49

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew T. Taft, 49, of Endicott, New York, who passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 14, 2026. Matthew’s life, marked by devotion to family, faith, and community, left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Matthew is survived by his father, John Taft (Noelle); his mother, Freda Ballard (John); his grandmother, Helen Patton; his siblings Jesse Taft (Becky), Abby Kilmer (Michael), and Gordon Benninger (Anne); his nephews and nieces Ryder, Nathan, Naomi, Nehemiah, Noah, and Nazareth; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a cherished member of a loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A graduate of The Central Baptist Christian Academy of Binghamton, Matthew was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Johnson City, where he faithfully served as a certified member of the Safety Team. He was dedicated to his work as a Service Writer with Matthews Nissan of Vestal, New York, and approached every responsibility with care and professionalism.

Matthew’s passions extended beyond his work. He was an enthusiastic fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, The New York Yankees, NASCAR, and classic car shows, often showcasing his Camaro and Monte Carlo. He treasured family traditions, including Sunday dinners and friendly races with his father, as well as Thursday night dinners with his brother Jesse and family, where laughter and connection were always at the center.

His warmth, humor, and genuine love for others made him a remarkable friend, colleague, and family member. Matthew’s kindness and spirit will be remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott, New York, with visitation from 2:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Matthew’s memory, honoring his generous and caring heart.

Matthew Taft will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, devotion, and joy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
