It is with deep sadness that the Oakey Bears Senior Rugby League Football Club announces the passing of Peter Cameron Connell, a respected member of the club and the local community. Peter’s involvement with the Oakey Football Club as both a player and coach had a significant impact, and his contributions will be remembered by many.
Peter played an important role during a successful period for the club, contributing to premiership victories in 1975, 1977, 1979, and 1980. These achievements marked a notable chapter in the club’s history and underscored his leadership and commitment to the team.
Beyond his sporting accomplishments, Peter was known for his dedication to the club and the relationships he built within the community. His involvement extended beyond the field, where he supported and encouraged fellow players and club members.

A memorial service to honor Peter’s life will be held on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, at 10:00 AM at Australian Heritage Funerals, located at 314 James Street, Harristown. Members of the Oakey Football Club, past and present, as well as the wider community, are welcome to attend.
