It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nika Ann Howard, who tragically died on March 15, 2026, following an automobile accident. Born on September 16, 2008, Nika was a vibrant and spirited young woman whose presence brightened every room she entered. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nika was the beloved daughter of Jaclyn Waugh and Lacey Sturm of Bridgeport, and Daniel Howard of Morgantown. She is survived by her siblings—older sister Ryan Stackman and younger brothers Kash and Kane Howard—who shared in her playful nature and love. Her devoted dog, Reecee, was her constant companion and best friend.
She is also survived by her maternal great-grandmother Eva Shearer; grandparents Robert “Bob” and Lisa Waugh, Scott and Chrissie Sturm; her aunts and uncles, including Lindsey “LiLi” Williams and husband Jared, Megan Sturm, Ryley Sturm and wife McKenna; paternal grandmother Helen Howard; and extended family members, including Anna Howard, Sarah Harmon, and many cousins and friends who were like family. She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents Paul Shearer and Darrell and Betty Waugh.
Nika was a junior in high school whose energy, curiosity, and love for life left a lasting impression. She had a distinctive sense of style, loved expressing herself through makeup, nails, and skincare, and was a passionate vegetarian. Her large circle of friends adored her for her laughter, love of music, and ability to create unforgettable memories. She embraced life with enthusiasm and inspired those around her with her adventurous spirit.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Nika’s life at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 12 – 6 p.m., with a service at 6 p.m. led by Pastor Sherman Goodwin.
Nika Ann Howard’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Though her time with us was far too short, she will be forever remembered for her joy, warmth, and the love she shared so freely.
