It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Br. Benet Tvedten OSB, who died peacefully last night at the Richardton Health Center after a long illness. Br. Benet passed on his beloved St. Patrick’s Day, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and creativity that touched all who knew him.
A dedicated Benedictine monk, Br. Benet served faithfully with the Benedictine Oblates at both Blue Cloud Abbey and Assumption Abbey. His contributions extended beyond his spiritual guidance; he was also a gifted storyteller and author, sharing wisdom, insight, and humor through his writings and teachings. His presence brought comfort, inspiration, and a sense of community to those around him, and his dedication to the monastic life and the wider community was exemplary.
The Vigil for Br. Benet will be held on Monday, March 23rd at 7 p.m., with the Funeral Mass following on Tuesday, March 24th, at Assumption Abbey. These services will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and members of the monastic community to honor his life, celebrate his faith, and remember the countless ways he touched the lives of others.
The family and community wish to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Richardton Health Center and the Hospice team, whose compassionate care provided comfort and support during Br. Benet’s final days. Their dedication and kindness were a true blessing.
Br. Benet Tvedten’s memory will live on in the lives he enriched, the stories he shared, and the spiritual guidance he provided. May he rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him. His legacy of devotion, service, and creativity will be remembered with gratitude and reverence by all who knew him.
